So remember how last week I explained how since we are opening up an area, we don't have anything, and sleep with our mattresses on the floor of our zone leaders house? Well.... Nothing has changed haha. That's still the routine! But don't worry, cuz there is good news! We have found a house, we just have to wait a little bit so the mission can pay for it! But it was actually a pretty cool experience. Cuz last Monday I asked for some prayers our way so we could find a house, and the very next day we found it!
We were just walking down the street to meet with one of our investigators, and we happened to see a sign that said "house for rent" (but in Spanish obviously), with a cell phone number at the bottom. We honestly didn't think much of it, cuz we had ran into the same scenario various times before. But regardless, we gave the number a call, and met up with the owner for a tour. Turns out we hit the motherload! It's an apartment that is almost brand new, only like 3 months since they finished it. It has two bedrooms, a big kitchen, a living room, a big bathroom, a smaller storage room, and a tiny little outside area where they are going to plant grass! What?! Talk about one of the nicest houses in the mission! Anyway, now we just have to wait for the money to arrive on our credit cards. But once that happens, we'll be good to go! I'm thinking this week we will finally get moved in! Lets hope so!
What else is going on here in Rosedal? Oh, we've found that a TON of the members in our area go to a different ward, Temporal. Its cuz our area is waaaaay far away from the church, and there is a bus that goes right through our area, and its route passes right in front of the church in Temporal. So the good news is, at least they are going to church, the bad news, they need to come to Rosedal haha. So that's something that we are gonna have to work on really hard. Cuz for them, its so much easier to go to Temporal. Cuz almost nobody has a car here, so bus is how we get everywhere. Hopefully we will find a solution soon, cuz there are a ton of families that should come to our ward, but don't.
In slightly sadder news, we attended a funeral last night for one of the kids in our ward. He was 10, and had been fighting to recover from brain surgery for almost a year now. He had a tumor in his brain that they operated on, but unfortunately the surgery didn't go well, and left him almost in a vegetative state. Me and Elder Chacon met with the family last Tuesday, and got to know them and had a little lesson with them, so we new about Fernando (that was his name). But then on Saturday night he passed away. It really was kind of shocking, cuz we had just met with the family, and they are all really cool and nice, and then out of nowhere, they lose their kid. It made me appreciate being a member of the church. How lucky are we to know that this life is just a short period of time, and that we have much more to look forward after this life. That leaving this world is just a necessary step in our eternal progression. And thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us, every single one of us will one day live again, and be reunited as a family. I can't imagine living without that reassurance, without that knowledge.
Anyway, other than that it was business as usual, cross your fingers that we can get into our house this week! Miss you guys!
