He's HOME!!!!!!!!

No one in our family thought this day would ever get here, but today was FINALLY the day we had all been waiting for!  After almost 24 hours of traveling, Elder Sehestedt is HOME!

Flight Plans?
Cochabamba, Bolivia to Santa Cruz, Bolivia
Santa Cruz, Bolivia to Miami, Florida
Miami, Florida to Dallas, Texas
Dallas, Texas to Salt Lake City, Utah

Our family is COMPLETE again!

Forever long, but sooooooooo worth it!  Sooooooo proud of our missionary!  Well done!

Thankfully Brandon's flight from Dallas at 1:35pm was on time!
First glimpse of Elder Sehestedt!
Brandon's reaction to his Welcome Home Cheering Crowd!
Mom gets the first hug!
Then Dad...
then Kassie...
and then Brooke

Next in line was everyone else!

It's TRUE!  I love you to Bolivia & back!  Welcome home!
I’m not sure what happened to the original picture of our Welcome Home Cheering Crowd
behind Brandon’s banner, but here’s what it looked like.
Here’s Brandon’s Welcome Home Cheering Crowd…
Mom, Dad, Sisters, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunt, Uncle,
Cousins, and Best Friends!
Best Friends FOREVER!
Tears are over!  Now it's time to laugh and enjoy!
Brandon had me hold his suit jacket on the way to lunch.
It felt so good to have it on my lap and to know that this
was REAL, NOT a dream.  He’s home!  This is the suit he
had made in Bolivia.  I love the colorful lining!
Brandon’s first meal in America?  Cheesecake Factory…
And of course, a BURGER and fries!
Officially home!

TODAY IS THE DAY! Final Preparations!

Brandon’s only coming home request is “a mountain of Mountain Dew!”
Check!  All the other treats are his favorite things to eat.
Elder Sehestedt on the porch greeting everyone!
Announcement to the world... Brandon is home!

IS IT TIME YET?

FINAL, FINAL package!

Okay, so this is really Brandon's FINAL, FINAL missionary package.  I thought it would be fun to have a package waiting on his bed with our HOME address on the shipping label.  Just some practical items that he would probably need... new toothbrush, new toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, deo, lotion, new tie (yeah, he didn't need this.  He came home with a huge collection from Bolivia), tennis balls (he was excited for this since they were going to play in the morning), some sending money, of course, Halo Legos (since it was a tradition on his mission) and to be funny little celebration rattlers to welcome him home!

He Coming Home!

No update today.  Brandon warned us last week that they would be in a missionary conference and might not email.  Good thing he gave us a heads up!  I would have gone crazy all day.

Bonus side?  He's coming home in 2 days!

The White Flag

The subject line is in reference to Nascar races, where they throw out the white flag when there is only one lap left in the race; and is not in reference to the white flag in a battle haha.  Although now that I think about it, the two are both very applicable this week!

Only one more week guys!  Can you believe it?? That's just nuts, and honestly I cant even comprehend it right now.  Like it doesn't even feel real, but i know it is!  In just 9 days I will be landing in SLC, so pumped!

Anyway, this week we were super busy!  For once I actually have stuff to right about, weird right?  We did some service this week with one of the members in the branch here.  He was doing some construction on his house, and once they finished up the work they through all the garbage, dirt, dry wall, bricks, etc, on the side of his house.  So he called the four of us, and a dump truck, and we just went to town for about four hours shoveling all this stuff into the back of a dump truck.  It was a lot, but we had a good time doing it too.

This week I was also able to visit with the Olivera Family for the first time since leaving Rosedal.  Back in December Elder Garcia and I helped them get married and then baptized them, so it was awhile back!  And afterwards they sent me out to Tupiza, so I haven't been able to see them.  But on Saturday me and my comp met up with them and they invited us out to dinner and ice cream, so it was really cool.  It was awesome to see them and hear that they are doing good!  The Mom and Dad are both taking the Temple Preparation classes so they can receive their endowments in the coming months, so that was awesome to hear.  Really some of the best news I've had on the mission, and just the coolest thing to hear as a missionary, that one of the families you taught and baptized is planning on going to the temple and being sealed as a family for all eternity.

On Friday our zone of missionaries along with three or four others had a conference in Cocha with Elder Christopher Waddell, who is the 1st counselor in the Area Presidency (the "area" being Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia), and that was awesome.  He is a really cool guy, and man does he know a lot!  The conference was about 6 hours long, and he was just captivating to listen too, and he was just throwing doctrine out all over the place haha.  He shared a lot of awesome things, and in all honesty a lot of stuff that would have been great to know or have heard about 6 months ago, and not with just a week left in the mission haha.  But it was still a great conference, probably one of the best I've had my whole mission.

And I think that about wraps up the week!  This morning we went paintballing as a zone, and I totally went Rambo on everyone, put the team on my back and dragged us all to victory haha.  It was sick today, and I was tearing it up, coming back home I'm definitely gonna have to get into paintballing!

Well, that's it, on to the final week.  The last week of the mish... still cant wrap my ahead around that.  Honestly I cant promise I will write next week.  Allegedly all the missionaries heading home have a gigantor conference on Monday that we have to go to, so they might not give us time.  But if not, not a big deal.  Cuz I leave here Tuesday, and get home Wednesday, so if you don't hear from me next Monday, just know I'll see you in the airport on Wednesday.

Elder Sehestedt, over and out.

See you Stateside!

No Update

16 days!!!!

No real update from Elder Sehestedt this week.  Just working hard, wrapping everything up and saying goodbyes.  Today he is going to buy souvenirs.  Here's what he said,

"You have no idea how hard it is to not buy everything haha.  It all looks super sick and doesn't exist at all in the US, so I just want to take so much stuff haha.  I've done good at controlling myself so far!  Its hard to pick whats best out of all the cool stuff.

Let's just say when we open my suitcase at the house you guys will be impressed! haha"

Wake Me Up When September Ends

Or at least when its the 24th and I'm landing in SLC haha.  It's September everybody, officially go-home month, what up!  The month that we all thought would never come has finally arrived, and things are getting real!  Think.... In just 24 or so days I'll be hanging out with everyone again, now that's crazy!

Alright aside from the few days that are left, this week was a good week.  We did some service with our new pension, doing a bunch of yard work, so I had to shake the dust off of my landscaping skills.  I spent most of my time moving a gigantor pile of rocks that they had in their front yard.  Like looking at the pile you were like, oh its not that big, this won't take too long.  Ya two and a half hours later haha.  There were so many rocks!  And not to mention that they had been there for awhile, so of course some spiders decided to nest up and call it home.  And we all know how much I love spiders (Spoiler alert: I don't!).  Including some like mini-tarantula types, man it was awful haha.

In other news we also had a baptism this past Saturday!  Safe to say that its my last baptism of the mish, that's kinda weird!  Like we have other people we are teaching, but not really anyone that's progressing enough to be baptized within this last few weeks.  But everything went really well, my comp baptized her and then yesterday I confirmed her a member in church, so we both got to participate!

Let's see... aside from service and the baptism I think that's the most exciting news I have this week.  Still hard to believe that I will be home so soon, I can't even tell you guys how stoked I am to see you!

Well talk to you guys next week, see you soon!

Love,
Elder Sehestedt
